Wall Hangings/ Stairways

Because oriental rugs are heavy, you should never use nails or staples to hang your rug. An excellent method is the Behnam wall hangers. We have specially designed wall hangers for home or office. Available in many styles and rod lengths, they add beautifully to your home décor, while offering maximum protection for your hanging rug by allowing an even distribution of weight.

Behnam also carries a complete line of quality solid brass stair rods and accessories that protect and secure your stairway rug. As always, we install what we sell.

Appraisals

Because of our years of experience in the fine handmade rug business, we have the expertise and authority to appraise your rug. We feel it is important to have all your handmade rugs appraised for insurance purposes, just in case your rug is damaged or stolen. Having a picture with each appraised rug is also advisable. During the appraisal of your rug, we take into account its country of origin, size and shape, design, knot density (knots per square inch), type and quality of the pile, weft and warp, and types of dye use. Since handmade rugs are a commodity, we then determine its market value based upon condition, availability, uniqueness and rarity. In the case of damage to your rug, we are able to furnish an appraisal document that will state the market value of your rug before and after damage that can be presented to your insurance company in order for you to be reimbursed.

Home Tips for Spills

  • For best results with any spill, remember, get to it fast
  • With a clean towel blot (not rub) as much of the spill the terry or paper towel will absorb (now is a good time to put a clean towel under the rug where the spill is)
  • Pour a small amount of water on the spill and continue to blot with dry towels, repeat as necessary until stain is gone
  • Never apply chemical cleaners; keep wetting and blotting
  • Restore the pile of the rug with a soft bristle brush while drying with a fan or cold air from a hairdryer.
  • If stain remains, have the experts at Behnam clean it.

Pet Stains

This is a very common problem and nearly 40% of the rugs we wash are in this category. To thoroughly remove this type of stain and the odor problems that go with it, an entirely different wash is necessary. We have developed a custom formula shampoo treatment that contains no harsh chemicals or perfumes and is so effective that we can now fully guarantee the rug will be returned completely clean and odor free!

Sealing

We at Behnam service center provide sealing for your rug (think “scotch guard” for wool rugs). This exclusive sealing treatment allows you to wipe up most spills and stains because it suspends the spill on the rugs surface. An additional benefit for rug sealant is it also suspends dirt and soil on the surface making vacuuming easier and less frequent. Our sealant is non-toxic, hypoallergenic and highly recommended for rugs in kitchens, dining rooms, family rooms, and all high traffic areas. The best time to have this done is when your rug is in for washing.
